Tony Leung Ka-Fai bows in apology for emotional outburst on reality TV show

He was game enough to cluck like a hen on reality TV, but exhaustion may have made Tony Leung Ka-Fai lose his temper while playing a game.

In a recent episode of When I Grow Up, the Hong Kong film star was heard yelling "I'm not playing anymore, why are you deceiving people?" as he stormed off the set.

When the cast and crew were having dinner together that evening, he surprised them by apologising for his outburst.

"I made a mistake when we were filming this afternoon. I was feeling very tired," the 61-year-old actor said as he bowed in apology.

"I said harsh words and my emotions affected your work. I'd like to say sorry to everyone present."

One of his daughters was seen holding his hand in support while the other wiped tears from her eyes.

It appeared that the crew didn't take his slip to heart, as one of them gave Tony a big hug and told him, "You're our big brother, we like you very much."

But his seniority was no excuse for his outburst, Tony reasoned.

"I have learnt many things while filming this show," the actor said. "It doesn't only document the growth of children, it also shows the growth of parents."

On the show, the star is known for his lack of airs, and his sincerity and willingness to admit his mistake endeared him to viewers.

Perhaps the doting dad was simply setting a good example for his daughters Nikkie and Chloe, who were said to have expressed interests in entering showbiz.

In When I Grow Up, celebrity parents go on a trip with their grown-up children. Besides Tony and his twin daughters, the show also features Taiwanese rocker Shin and his daughter, as well as Hong Kong actor Elvis Tsui and his son.
