Chee Hong Tat delights crowd with Hokkien song at Hungry Ghost Festival getai

Audience members at a getai show in Toa Payoh were treated to a surprise performance by Minister for National Development Chee Hong Tat on Thursday (Aug 20) night.

Chee, MP for Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC, took the stage about an hour into the event at Toa Payoh Industrial Park.

Together with the event hosts, he spoke to residents about initiatives under Age Well SG, such as Age Well Neighbourhoods and the Home Improvement Programme, reported 8world.

The hosts then asked the audience if they would like to hear Chee sing, which drew a round of applause.

Chee then performed his rendition of the Hokkien song Four Seasons by Taiwanese singer Tsai Hsiao-hu.

Accompanied by the audience's claps, he concluded his performance to rousing shouts and whistles from the crowd.
