The disappointing one-goal defeat to Singapore in the final Asian Cup qualifying match could have seen Bangladesh fans scramble for the exits after the final whistle.

But to their credit, they stayed behind to clean up after themselves at the National Stadium on Tuesday (March 31).

A video shared on TikTok by user Suman Hossain shows fans, equipped with large bags, sweeping through the rows of seats to pick up rubbish to leave the place just as neat as they had found it.

Out of the over 30,000 fans in attendance, there were about 6,000 Bangladeshis at the away end of the stadium.

Their football team may have lost 1-0 to Singapore in the final Asian Cup Group C qualifying game, but kudos to the Bangladeshi fans for keeping the National Stadium clean after the match! 🤝 #sgnews #Singapore #Sports #Football #AsianCup

The video has since gained over 28,000 views and 1,000 likes.

Even though Bangladesh failed to qualify for the 2027 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia, their fans are already winners.

"As a Singaporean, I really appreciate and respect you guys. Thank you so much for everything that you have done for our country," said Julian Lau in the comments.

"Well done. Such a wonderful act. Salute," user Sparkolanc added.

Several social media users also praised the Bangladeshi expatriate community for their contributions to Singapore.

"Thank you to your people for literally building and maintaining our home. You should be proud of your countrymen’s hard work," said Sanesh Tiwari.

AsiaOne has contacted Suman Hossain for more information.

The hard fought win against third-placed Bangladesh marked the end of Singapore’s successful qualification campaign for the continental showpiece.

At 146th in the world, Lions will be the lowest-ranked side in the tournament.
