Asus with OLED display: A colourful, powerful upgrade for different laptop users

Hardware performance makes up a core part of the laptop experience, but the latter isn’t complete without outstanding display quality. OLED technology, in particular, is known for its expertise in the visual department, having taken over the TV market, and enjoying increased popularity over the years across other display options.

Carry that over to the laptop, and users will be able to experience striking, vibrant images while on the go. And if they have to stay at their desks and spend hours staring at the screen? All the more reason for their device to shine brighter than the competition.

A veteran of the tech scene, Asus is certainly no stranger to the benefits of an OLED display. The company is committed to bringing the best visual experience to its users by including OLED display option across all their laptops, starting with a dedicated line-up of OLED-equipped laptops across various price points to meet different user needs: the ZenBook Pro Duo 15 OLED (UX582), ZenBook 14X OLED(UX5400), ZenBook Flip S13 OLED (UX371), and VivoBook Pro 16X OLED (M7600).

But first, let’s go through the workings of how these models help to satisfy and enhance the viewing experience — both for work and leisure.

OLED vs LCD: What’s the difference?

While OLED and LCD displays each have their fair share of strengths, colour performance is where they differ. The Asus laptops with OLED display excel best here, offering best-in-class visuals with a cinema-grade 100 per cent DCI-P3 colour gamut (or 133 per cent sRGB), and up to 1.07 billion colours. In contrast, LCD builds cover 62.5 per cent of the sRGB range, and are limited to 16.7 million colours.

What this translates to is richer, more vivid images on OLED screens that don’t only come in handy for colour-intensive projects, but for everyday content as well. An added bonus comes in the form of PANTONE Validated certification that delivers ultra-accurate colours — a feature often lacking in LCD models. Here, what you see is truly what you get.

The image detail and vibrance continues to carry through low-light settings. The Asus laptops with OLED display are able to maintain good colour reproduction at any brightness level while producing rich, deep blacks, resulting in crisp and clear images in the darkest scenes.

But the advantages aren’t just confined to visual fidelity. The line-up also ships with eye-care technology and fast response times, emitting 70 per cent less harmful blue light than its LCD counterparts, and boasting an average response time of 0.2 milliseconds. As compared to the standard LCD range of 10 to 25 milliseconds, this speed allows for smoother fast-paced action, low-latency gameplay, and quality-of-life features like blur-free text scrolling.

These perks are all packed into the OLED models, which means everyone from the casual enthusiast to creative professionals have the accessible means to kick off their entertainment or work journey.

Asus ZenBook Pro Duo 15 OLED (UX582)

Beastly prowess for creative multitasking

The lack of screen real estate will no longer be a concern with two screens… well, of sorts. A one-stop for content creation needs, the Asus ZenBook Pro Duo 15 OLED (UX582) is designed with efficient on-the-go productivity in mind. The company’s proprietary ScreenPad Plus makes its mark as the main draw here, offering a secondary 4K display and optimised built-in apps for seamless cross-screen multitasking

Control Panel, a newly-added tool, also allows for full compatibility with Adobe suite of apps, including Photoshop, Lightroom Classic, Premiere Pro, and After Effects. What this translates to is precise and intuitive control over the creative workflow, where various functions like brush size, saturation, and layer opacity can be easily changed or adjusted.

Rounding off the user experience is a second-generation active stylus and a bundled Asus ErgoLift Stand that bring added ergonomics and stability for writing or drawing. Nothing can stand in the way of your creative process, be it taking notes, idea-sketching, or graphical editing.

Creative work, however, can get very GPU-intensive, which is why Asus has set aside huge reserves of processing power for use. The laptop is a real powerhouse when it comes to performance, boasting a 10th-Gen Intel Core i9 eight-core processor, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 GPU, and 32 GB of memory – a formidable combination that breezes through demanding  tasks, such as video editing and 3D graphics rendering.

Coupled with a main 4K OLED HDR touchscreen display, the ZenBook Pro Duo 15 OLED comes highly recommended for creative professionals and industry-standard content creation. $4998 is the price to pay for experiencing the apex of creative productivity and ultimate entertainment immersion.

Asus ZenBook Flip S13 OLED (UX371)

A lean, mean, and lasting machine

Lightweight and versatile is how the Asus ZenBook Flip S13 OLED (UX371) rolls. Weighing 1.2kg and measuring 13.9mm thin, the laptop cuts a slim, elegant figure for maximum on-the-go convenience.  The 360° ErgoLift hinge also gives you the option to flip it around and use it in tablet mode too!

Where battery life is often a concern with OLED displays, that won’t be the case with this compact workhorse. Running on a 67Wh full charge, it provides enough juice for up to 10 hours, with its fast-charging technology allowing for 60 per cent capacity in 49 minutes. That, alongside the laptop’s ultraslim bezels and 4K HDR display, makes entertainment and work a pleasant, lasting affair.

Asus’ very own NumberPad 2.0 has been included into the build as well. The dual-function touchpad houses an integrated LED-illuminated numeric keypad, and can be swapped out for cursor control if the situation calls for it. Topped off with a 11th-Gen Intel i7 processor, Intel Iris Xe graphics card, and 16GB of RAM, the notebook is ideal for those seeking performance and portability in a luxuriously-designed package.

The ZenBook Flip 13 retails at $2498.

Asus VivoBook Pro 16X OLED (M7600)

Ryzen-powered productivity

Heads up, Ryzen fans — this one’s for you. The Asus VivoBook Pro 16X OLED (M7600) offers an alternative to its other Intel-powered members without compromising on processing power. Sporting an AMD Ryzen 9 5800H processor, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti GPU, and 16GB of RAM, it makes multimedia editing, content creation, hectic multitasking, and laid-back gaming a walk in the park.

Its standing as the world’s first 16-inch 4K OLED laptop means users will also be able to enjoy a larger screen of 16:10 aspect ratio with equally colour-accurate, vibrant, and detailed visuals. The Asus DialPad is another exclusive addition that will be making its debut, serving as a virtual interface on the touchpad that grants precise and intuitive control over creative tools in compatible Adobe software. Here, convenience and creative efficiency take on a new meaning.

Those seeking a sophisticated, pleasant aesthetic, meanwhile, can turn their eyes to the distinctive design of this good-looker. Where the textured coating on the lid softens the feel of tough, hard metal while staying resistant to fingerprints and smudges, the keyboard comes adorned with subtle redesigns, such as an orange Escape key and a warning-striped Enter key.

The ViviBook Pro 16X will be available in black for $2598, with the 14-inch VivoBook 14X (M7400) alternative retailing at $2198.

Asus ZenBook 14X OLED (UX5400)

16:10 display benefits in a lightweight package

Say goodbye to the 16:9 aspect ratio standard. Unlike its other family members, the 14-inch Asus ZenBook 14X OLED (UX5400) offers a 16:10 alternative on a WQXGA+ display (2880 x 1800 pixels), which means users can enjoy increased multitasking productivity from a bigger visual workspace, even while on the move.

Portability and performance, the running themes of the ZenBook line-up, are reinforced through a lightweight 1.4kg build that measures a slim 16.9mm. The latest 11th-Gen Intel Core processors, an NVIDIA GeForce MX450 GPU, and 16GB of RAM serve as the main driving force to deliver enough horsepower for handling day-to-day tasks.

The improved ScreenPad has been brought over to this notebook as well. Where its smartphone-like interface helps to facilitate task management and multitasking workflow, the quick controls prove handy in improving the interactions between the main and secondary displays. Want to launch a chat box or other apps without interrupting your work on the primary screen? Asus has got you covered.

Despite its compact frame, the ZenBook 14X is built to last. Having met the MIL-STD-810G US military standard for reliability and durability, the hardy device has demonstrated its ability to withstand fall impact, heat and low-temperature conditions, so users won’t have to worry about it slipping from their fingers and dropping to the hard, cold ground.

The ZenBook 14X OLED is available for $2398.

The OLED laptop market has been picking up steam in recent years, and it’s easy to understand the appeal. Visually, the tech dazzles, bringing richer colours, deeper blacks, and stronger contrast for a more enjoyable viewing experience – be it work or play.

With Asus, however, there are a couple of additional perks in store that go beyond the aesthetic. Reduced blue light emission and fast response times are both practical offerings, with the former encouraging better eye care, and the latter carrying sharper detail in tow, especially where fast-moving actions and subjects are concerned.

Bundle all of these together, and there’s little reason to not make the switch. OLED models may be pricier than their LCD counterparts, but it’s a worthy investment that pays off in the long run, particularly for content creators and industry professionals. And with the Asus laptops with OLED display designed for different kinds of creative users? The deal is sealed
